London-born Peter Matthew Smith is a graduate of the Byam Shaw School of Art. While in an earlier period of his career he worked in a representational style, dominated by life painting and still life, in recent years his focus has shifted towards abstract imagery. In his current work he is attempting to create a visual balance through a dynamic arrangement of shapes. Both colour and texture play an important role, creating tensions between the various segments.
As part of the Richmond Art House Open Studios, Handmade Frames is delighted to be showing the latest works by Peter Matthew Smith.
